Fairytale AU Meme [Open]

Pick one of my characters and I'll toss a disney/fairytale au scenario at you! I've got some rough descriptions of their roles below. You can start, or you can just give their name in a top-level and I’ll write something up. These can be shippy or not, although given the descriptions I’ll probably tend towards that way unless you tell me you don’t want that

Alec: Damsel in distress, suicidal, who thinks this whole thing is stupid and this story can be ended if anyone at any point just solves the problem of the ‘princess’ for good

Annabel: Necromancer, who tries to find love by bringing hers back from the dead

Dominic: Knight, who’s pretty sure that he’s supposed to slay the ‘dragon’ but might end up falling in love with him/her instead

I-No: The evil witch, finds delight in other people’s suffering

Ivy: The persecuted heroine, who badly wants to believe in love but doesn’t really believe that it can trump the facts of life

Kai: Prince charming, careful and earnest, hugely romantic who thinks that life’s course can be changed by love

Ky: Either the hero, earnest but not very good at people, or the damsel in distress who’s going to apologize for having to be rescued

Rose: Ghost girl, who will accept a coat in exchange for being able to touch and feel for a while

Sol: The dragon, why are you waking him up from his nap just to rescue a princess? He doesn’t have time for this crap.

Valentine: The evil king whose goal in all of this is power and also just seeing the ordinary people scramble

"Um..." Ryoji has to think about that one for a moment. "Not very long. Maybe 30 years, ish?"

A huff of laughter. "That seems like a while to me. Do you like it here?"

That's because you're a baby. "Yeah! I mean, I wish people wouldn't get so upset when I flew over places, but..."

That is a rude thing to call someone. "But how can they see you? I wouldn't have if you hadn't stopped." Kai is still whispering, but obviously stealth mode includes Ryoji being tiny.

But it's true. "Because I've only been able to do the small thing recently," Ryoji replies, knowing exactly what he's thinking of, "I was gonna go look at it like that but then I get distracted." By you.

Then Ryoji is kidnapping babies! How does he feel about that?

"Oh. What other things can you do?"

The baby asked him to!

"Um..." Ryoji thinks. "Well, I can breath fire. And fly, obviously. I can do more simple magic things, like levitating stuff and conjuring basic things. Form changes are just kind of tricky."

"Can you show me your fire tomorrow?" If Kai sounds a little in awe, well, he should be.

"But you mean you could change into something else, if you tried?"

"Sure!" Ryoji is totally happy to show that off. It's one of the more natural things for him to do.

He considers this before nodding. "Yeah, probably! I'd just need some practice."

"Oh! I'll help you practice." Because that's how it works.

But for now Kai's had a day, and he's probably going to drift off soon.

It's really not how that works, but... it does give Ryoji an idea.

He'll drift off to sleep as well, and if he's up before Kai then he'll try not to wake him, turning into the tiny dragon to look over his spellbooks for something.

When Kai wakes he thinks that he's been abandoned, and then that Ryoji had gone for a flight. It's only after thinking himself alone for the moment that he notices the small form of the dragon, seeming smaller in the vastness of the cave.

"Ryoji?"

Ryoji looks over when he hears Kai's voice, perking up. "Good morning!" he says cheerfully, sticking a bookmark in the book before fluttering over, keeping the tiny form for now. "Did you sleep ok?"

This is when Kai realizes he probably should have grabbed a change of clothes. And probably some food. Whoops. "It was fine. I hope you weren't waiting for me for anything?"

They could... fix that. Probably. "No, I was just looking up something," Ryoji says as he lands next to the prince, looking up at him. It would be nice to have an in-between size, since he's either huge or tiny in comparison.

Dragons eat food too, don’t they? Maybe they can share. Kai’s smile when he looks at Ryoji, when Ryoji is closer to him, is bright. “What sort of something? Are you going to learn more magic?”

Ryoji nods. "Yup! I remembered, I'm pretty sure there's a spell that lets you have a human form! So I thought I could try that one next."

“A human form?” Kai sounds rather instantly delighted. “That would be neat. Ooh, we could go to a village, and we’d be in disguise!”

[dangerouslyinlove]

"Yeah!" Ryoji grins, a toothy little dragon smile. "It would be fun! It'll probably take me a few days to get it, and then I'll have to practice so I can hold it up long enough to go anywhere."

"I'll help you practice!" No, Kai isn't really sure how he'd help, but he's not thinking about that, just the joy of having a new friend who has all sorts of cool tricks.

Ryoji grins- Kai probably can't really help him a lot, but... being encouraging is being helpful, right? "Thanks!"

He can say when things look weird. "We should have breakfast, right?" Surely breakfast will just appear when they decide it's time for it.

"Oh! Right." Though... hm. Ryoji kind of peers at what Kai brought. "...What do humans eat?"

[tothealtar]

"Food. Animals -- cooked -- or vegetables." No minerals, though. Except those that are found in animals or vegetables.

[dangerouslyinlove]

"Oh." Ryoji has to think about this for a moment. "I might have some vegetables... how do you 'cook' animals?"
