Fairytale AU Meme [Open]

Pick one of my characters and I'll toss a disney/fairytale au scenario at you! I've got some rough descriptions of their roles below. You can start, or you can just give their name in a top-level and I’ll write something up. These can be shippy or not, although given the descriptions I’ll probably tend towards that way unless you tell me you don’t want that

Alec: Damsel in distress, suicidal, who thinks this whole thing is stupid and this story can be ended if anyone at any point just solves the problem of the ‘princess’ for good

Annabel: Necromancer, who tries to find love by bringing hers back from the dead

Dominic: Knight, who’s pretty sure that he’s supposed to slay the ‘dragon’ but might end up falling in love with him/her instead

I-No: The evil witch, finds delight in other people’s suffering

Ivy: The persecuted heroine, who badly wants to believe in love but doesn’t really believe that it can trump the facts of life

Kai: Prince charming, careful and earnest, hugely romantic who thinks that life’s course can be changed by love

Ky: Either the hero, earnest but not very good at people, or the damsel in distress who’s going to apologize for having to be rescued

Rose: Ghost girl, who will accept a coat in exchange for being able to touch and feel for a while

Sol: The dragon, why are you waking him up from his nap just to rescue a princess? He doesn’t have time for this crap.

Valentine: The evil king whose goal in all of this is power and also just seeing the ordinary people scramble

Normally it was the knight sent to vanquish the dragon and spare the kingdom.

It's a little different when said kingdom is an invading force that's decided the dragon is simply in the way. Perhaps of use, perhaps nothing more than nuisance with a lair between them and their goal, but nevertheless something requiring address.

Instead of a knight, they sent a sorceress. A small, quiet witch with only her orders in mind, taken from some forgotten place and shaped into the perfect tool for such a quest. Her life, by and large, wouldn't affect them if it were lost.

She summons three constructs to assist her progress, fending off monsters and bandits, watching from her perch atop her familiar. It's dull. Dreadfully so. But at least it goes by quickly.

It's best to conserve her energy, anyway. For all her deep connection to the magic of the world, it isn't good to spend it needlessly. She might need to unleash it against something else, after all.

"The final obstacle."

And then she will have accomplished her task.

There's no effort to hide herself as she presses into what they've determined is the dragon's territory, either. She'll either find it first or be found; she's calculated what she can of the risk and is confidant she won't fail.

After all, these are her orders.

His warning meets only a blank face; Valentine isn't moved. Neither the show nor the threat really change anything, either. Instead, she tilts her head ever so slightly as her fingers slide down the cord they're wrapped around--leading up to the leathery, patchwork demon that hovers close by.

"You are in the way," she says, voice an airy monotone. "You have two options: assist us or disappear."

How uncouth.

As the flame licks towards her, Valentine darts aside. Simply running a few paces, tugging her familiar along with her like a child with a balloon. Her smile is faint, barely there--amused, dimly so.

"I see. So you will fight." Skipping back a few more steps, Valentine brings a hand delicately in front of the opposite shoulder before sweeping out, across--her magic is gesture-based, no requirement for a lengthy cast, no requirement for a focus, though an array glows about her feet. A ball of violet flies towards the dragon as recompense for his flames.

She watches him carefully as he takes to the air—measuring, calculating—but she isn't quite on key, yet. When he dives, he catches the half of her, not quick enough to side step his path entirely. She spins with it, throws herself down to limit potential damage if he tries to follow up at a similar height. Her familiar starts to fuss before unceremoniously being told to be quiet, and when the coast is clear, Valentine is quick to pick herself up and hop back (once she's sure she hasn't done anything serious to her ankle) in order to establish distance again.

There's a dull ache in her head, but she knows she didn't hit it on her way down.

"Hm." She swipes her hand through the air, violet once more hurtling towards the dragon.
