[There are several things that this isn't, but the most relevant one at the moment is that isn't Gansey's business. It isn't anyone else's business either, other than Ronan himself, but he isn't having a problem with anyone else. Just with Gansey.]

[ overstepping is one of gansey's fatal flaws. give him an inch, and he'll take a mile — only, not in the greedy, material way. simply in the way he forms his attachments to people. now, that tightly wound attachment he feels to ronan seems to be more of a problem than anything remotely helpful. it's been an ongoing thing since he moved to henrietta, and especially since niall lynch died. gansey can't quite seem to put his finger on what it is —

no, it feels constricting, is what it is.

his gaze follows ronan, brows knit and every other layer of richard campbell gansey iii is buried beneath the one that's concerned, the one that found ronan covered in blood all that time ago. if he allows himself to think too hard on it, the evasiveness will make him think of adam. ]

Why? [ but he isn't ronan's guardian, he can't tell him that it's late and that he'd rather he didn't. but he doesn't. there's something completely odd and whatever it is, gansey's afraid of leaving it alone lest it fester. ]

[ It's easy to make Ronan chafe under any sorts of constrictions, and Gansey had never seemed to know when to toe the line, when it's alright to push and when it'll make Ronan snap back or withdraw further.

Maybe that's because the line shifts based on Ronan's whims and moods, but Ronan's the last person who's going to admit that. ]

To go for a drive.

[ That's not an answer at all, but there's a tight coil wrapped around Ronan even as he meets Gansey's eyes with a challenge in his own. He needs the air and the speed, but a part of him wants more than that right now, a part of him knows that that's not really the answer. ]
